Exterior Painting and Decorating project at Millhouses by Drew Decor. High Quality Painters and Decorators in Sheffield.
We took on an exterior project with a past customer of ours in Millhouses, Sheffiled.
It had not been decorated in a good number of years and was more than ready to be re painted. We tend to take out exterior Painting and Decorating projects between the months of May and September.
The problems we encountered were the height of the building, cracking and rotted wood. Usual problems on an exterior painting project.
So after the scaffolding was erected we were on our way to transform the exterior. The customer was keen to change the colour from a cream to a light grey colour with black soffits, fascia boards and down pipes with a coloured door.
We replaced and fixed the rotten wood work, prepared, burnt off and filled the wood work. After the time consuming job of the prep work, sanding, filling, re sanding, re filling and applying wood hardener, we could get down to the paint work. We went for a high gloss finish in black for the fascia boards, soffits and down pipes. We used Johnstone's Trade flexible exterior undercoat and gloss. On the windows and frames after primers and undercoats were used we applied Farrow & Ball Pavilion Gray in an exterior eggshell. Farrow and Balls paints are all water based but we have used this product a good number of times, and highly recommend it, although it does take four to five coats to cover no matter what it says on the side of the tin. The stone sills were finished in a Johnstone's Trade exterior masonry paint in black and the door was expertly glossed in the Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue.
All in all it was a very successful job with a great sense of accomplishment. The customer was very happy with the job. After the exterior in Millhouses, Sheffield, we painted and decorated their kitchen extension with great effect. We look forward to working with the Coopers on their next Painting and Decorating project.
